Business I am professor for mathematics and computer science at the University of Applied Sciences, FHDW (Fachhochschule der Wirtschaft) in Bergisch Gladbach (Germany) - near Cologne. Addition information can be found at my official web pages... (Sorry, these additional web pages are in German.)

Politics Politically, I am a member of the Green Party (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) - not because everything is wonderful there, but because "the others" do not really convince me doing it better. Welcome!

Since 1999 I have been engaged in the municipal commissions for education and for urbanism. As of the elections of 26 septembre 2004 I am a city councilman in Bergisch Gladbach and member in the commissions for finance as well as for urbanism.

Apart from that the Suiss model of a much more direct democracy persuades me. Within several discussions and acclamations in the city council the political groups' pressure on the single councilman (and -woman) often bothered me. Partially, interesting and open discussions have been cut off that way.

Whereto an absolute majority of a party may lead we all had experienced in the electional period 1999-2004. And whereto a "great coalition" of CDU and SPD can lead, we have had to suffer in the last period. Today we are confronted with a (although flimsy) majority of CDU and FDP.

Therefore, I try to enforce the Green group in our city council - protecting nature and environment and working for sustainability much more than the current majority does.

And...
I have been engaged at the primary school (Gemeinschaftsgrundschule Moitzfeld) as long as my children attended it. Until the end of 2007 I have been chairman of the "friends and supporters of the Otto Hahn schools" (Förderverein der Otto-Hahn-Realschule und des Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium) in Bergisch Gladbach-Bensberg.

Furthermore I am member of the "baby food action network" (Aktionsgruppe Babynahrung) and the "south north forum" (Süd-Nord-Forum Freiburg) which pursues the central "fair trade shop" ("Weltladen") in Freiburg.
